Where is gillis mountain

To me, it seems Gillis is of the horse-whisperer tradition; I would suggest that she can read the horses as well as they can apparently read us. She knows this because of the subtle differences in the way her horse is approaching the trail.

Her vision and enthusiasm for the land and her enjoyment of the outdoors are contagious. Halfway through our ride, I am already trying to plan when I can come next.

Gillis also worked for Little Pond Stables in Cheticamp for two years. I had the distinct desire to pull out a can of baked beans and warm them over a campfire as we sauntered over the mountain, like we were on a journey from one place to the next.

It could have been , for all you see are rosebush covered fields and distant hills from various points on the ridge of Gillis Mountain. Although she has kept the sheep for two years already, she explains they are slow to breed. With an eight-month-old baby in tow, it seems Gillis and MacDonald, are really making it happen. Eventually they would like to offer wagon rides and have cabins.

It is a project as much for locals as it is for tourists. At the moment, Gillis Mountain Trails can accommodate groups up to eight and as small as one rider. The trail ride is an hour long and about 5km. Riders need to be at least ten years old to ride solo, but for younger riders, Gillis or MacDonald will walk the horse.
