Season 8 saw Carrie relying on the Russians for help, and her trust was repeatedly rewarded. Meanwhile, the ill-equipped and idiotic American president sound familiar? Claire Danes. All of this set Carrie and Saul on a collision course that paid off in a surprising, effective, and thought-provoking ending; one that let its two stars go head-to-head without tearing them apart or betraying their core values.
Carrie, desperate to avert nuclear war in the Middle East, argues to break the vows that have dictated CIA procedure for decades: She wants to give up an asset. She was, to put it mildly, not successful. Do you have anyone like that? Quinn quickly ushered Carrie out of the room, and ordered her home for some needed sleep.
The last time Carrie went through a major physical and emotional trauma i. Instead, she popped her medication and redoubled her efforts, fully comfortable in her own instincts once again. At the site, Carrie convinced the last tactical team there to sweep through the factory tunnels once more, this time with her at their side.
On cue, the other soldiers swept in before Nazir could finish Carrie off, surrounding him as he sat kneeling in prayer. For a moment, I thought Nazir would detonate a bomb, but instead, as my colleague Ken Tucker has already astutely pointed out , his death was much more mundane: He put his hand on his heart, and was shot dead in the dark.
And that was that. Literally, over it. He seemed ready to tell Jessica everything. He took it, stepping out into the balcony. The next morning, Dana was in a particularly foul mood. She was fed up with being stuck in their penthouse prison, and infuriated that no one could explain to her why her life had become such a stultifying purgatory. And they were out of milk.
The writers understood that viewers might miss an episode or two, so they wrote with that in mind. A TV critic could miss episodes without losing the thread of a series. Now: every episode counts, especially on cable. Will "Treme" have a season 4? Yes, a short season, though. I believe there will only be five episodes. I love that show, despite its flaws. The music is fantastic. I'm surprised it has lasted this long; the ratings are poor. Good for HBO.
What are your thoughts on the new season of "Saturday Night Live"? I'm enjoying life after Kristin Wiig and Andy Samberg. I really like the newer cast members.
