Meanwhile Irish pop twins Jedward, aka John and Edward Grimes, have vowed to 'fight for hairspray' with the girls in the house. The year-olds admitted to using up to a bottle a day on their heavily-coiffed hair.
Jedward have made millions since losing X Factor in , after releasing a rendition of Vanilla Ice's Ice, Ice Baby and singing in this year's Eurovision contest. There was an awkward moment earlier when just Kerry and Tara were in the house. As the American walked down a spiral staircase into the house to see Kerry waiting, she couldn't understand what the Warrington girl said her name was. Frankie then rewarded the civilians a silent disco which was watched by the guards. Meanwhile, Frankie was in his Golden Palace answering questions from Big Brother about the other housemates, and the answers were played through the civilian's headphones so that they could hear everything.
The civilians had to pretend that everything was normal and they were still listening to music. Whilst Frankie was giving a live speech to the civilians, Rylan led the revolution to follow specific objectives from Big Brother to overthrow Frankie as dictator. These included tearing down all of the propaganda posters, defacing the large flag in the garden, defacing all of the banners in the garden with red paint, unlocking the box containing their banned items and retrieving them all, planting explosives in the statue of Frankie then detonating them to destroy it, and finally, capturing Frankie and his guards using a net.
Ryan was called to the Diary Room and was given a secret mission to complete. Razor was giving Ryan nice instructions where as Rylan was giving him evil ones. Big Brother told the housemates that he's fed up on them not getting dressed and that celebrities should be dressed like celebrities.
If they all didn't get dressed, then Big Brother would take action. They were told that they'd be answering questions from a competition winner 'SuzyEssex'. However, this is all fake and the other housemates were in on the hoax. Big Brother told the housemates that they'd each get a chance to win a letter from home, but to do this they'd face some dilemmas.
To receive a letter, all they have to do is accept the dilemma. First Tricia was called to the Diary Room and was asked to rate each housemate's letter in order of priority. If one housemate declined the dilemma then the housemate who was ranked the least priority by Tricia wouldn't get their letter.
If two housemates declined, then the two housemates who were ranked the least priority wouldn't receive their letters, and so on. As Tricia successfully ranked the letters, she passed her part of the task.
Claire had to 'take to the Steps' every time a crowd noise was played into the House and walk up and down the stairs until the crowd noise was played again, she was successful.
Ryan had to become his Neighbours character, Toadie. He had to wear a toad costume and jump to wherever he wanted to go, he was also successful. Razor and Frankie had a joint task as Frankie became a jockey and Razor became a horse. Wherever any of them wanted to go, Frankie had to ride Razor like a horse. Both of these were successful.
The housemates were split into two teams, the boys on one team and girls on another team to settle the question of who's better, male or female? As there were 5 males and 3 females, Razor had to join the girl's team and dress like a girl. The housemates competed in a number of different games to decide who was better.
First, Ryan and Tricia both took part in an obstacle course which was all about multi-tasking. They had to park a car, empty their shopping bags, answer the phone and then change a baby.
As Tricia completed the course in the quickest time, the girls had the advantage. It revealed a colourful, opulent look with a return to the luxury feel of the early Channel 4 series. It featured a bar, gym, sauna, an open-plan bathroom, the UK series' largest swimming pool thus far.
In the celebrity series, the shower enclosure was screened off from public view but this was changed to a clear view for the main series. There was also a large outdoor area and a sophisticated range of designer furnishings and fittings. This made a radical contrast with the shift to an austere, claustrophobic house seen in the later Channel 4 series.
The show was broadcast in high-definition for the first time in its history. In preparation for HDTV broadcast standard, the house was illuminated with a super-bright overhead lighting rig.
It was in the style of a luxury club chair in deep red with gold trim. The luxurious feel was enhanced by a dramatic entrance way to the diary room with strip lighting and mirrored surfaces. They also received messages from relatives and visits from pets.
The Diary Room led to the small task room where challenges were set for the housemates. The show went live on 18 August. A group of ten initial housemates entered the House through the big eye via a catwalk leading up to a flight of steps, crossing a swingbridge shaped like the Big Brother eye.
Marcus Bentley narrated each contestant's details as they made their entrance. Australian paparazzi and media personality Darryn Lyons was next to join the House followed by Sally Bercow. Following the housemates' entrance into the house, Big Brother called one housemate to the Diary Room.
Kerry Katona took up the offer and in the process nominated herself for a secret task. Her mission was to become the 'biggest celebrity diva' which entailed three mini tasks. Her first task was to throw an "A-list" celebrity-style tantrum, second to ask three housemates, "do you know who I am?
The next day, the housemates voted for whom they judged to be the biggest diva in the house. Kerry had to be selected or she would be punished.
